Official Plan Amendment
Oakville Must be Allowed to Plan its Own Future!
MIDTOWN OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT
This page has been created to provide readers with clarity and ease of access to information, facts and updates on the Town-controlled Official Plan Amendment for Midtown.
The arrival of the Provincially-Controlled Transit Oriented Communities Program (TOC), announced in late Spring has confused people and created a great deal of misunderstanding.
In essence, we now have two separate programs underway, which affect the planning and future of Midtown.
As we work through the issues and concerns of the TOC, we must also continue to focus on the OPA, as it is what will effect the other 95% of the land in Midtown that lies outside of the current TOC lands being controlled by the Province.
ABOUT THE OPA
The development of a new Official Plan Amendment (OPA) for Midtown, has been active for several months. This new draft is one of the most critical planning decisions we will make for the next generation, because it will define the scale, intensity and liveability, or lack thereof, for a community at the heart of Oakville.
On October 29th a Special Meeting of Council was held to review the most recent draft of the OPA, hear a report from staff and listen to comments from the public.
Click the red button below to find important reports from consultants, hear from local residents' associations and citizens of Oakville, see visual concepts of Midtown, and more.
Sponsored by Ward 3 Councilors Gittings & Haslett-Theall, we consider this site a must-read, offering a comprehensive and current view of the issue and a focus on the OPA.
