Who We Are
We Love Oakville (WLO) was established in 2019 in response to the Province’s announcement to launch a Regional Government Review that may have resulted in the amalgamation of Oakville with Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills. We are a non-partisan grassroots organization comprising residents associations throughout Oakville. In our initial campaign, in 2019, we successfully lobbied Queen’s Park against the forced amalgamation of Oakville with Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills and cuts to our Town Council.
WLO has remained committed to collaborating on issues that would negatively impact Oakville and Halton Region or on initiatives that would benefit our community. In 2020, we collaborated with the Oakville Community Foundation on their COVID-19 fundraising campaign. In 2022, WLO supported the Save Glen Abbey campaign to stop the development of Glen Abbey which would have resulted in broad implications for our entire town. In 2023, we campaigned to tell the Ontario government that Oakville residents want to help solve the crisis of runaway housing prices. But we want the government to act on facts and evidence and to be committed to long-term real housing affordability.
In 2024, we are focusing on supporting a Livable Oakville with sustainable and planned growth to support Provincial mandates. We are most concerned about MidTown Oakville and have provided a variety of information on this site.
